Liverpool Tattoo Convention video

The rather talented chaps over at tattoo.tv have put together a lovely video documenting this years Liverpool Tattoo Convention, UK Tattoo Industry Awards, and Miss Tattoo UK. We both missed this convention, and if this video is at all accurate, we really missed out. Definitely one to put in the MUST ATTEND column for next year.

Liverpool Tattoo Convention and UK Tattoo Industry Awards results

One of the biggest and most respected tattoo conventions on these fair shores, the Liverpool Tattoo Convention is now done and dusted for another year. Neither of us were able to make it unfortunately, but judging from the pictures I’ve seen on facebook, it seems that a good time was had by all.

As well as the usual competitions, the Liverpool convention also plays host to the UK Tattoo Industry Awards. The nominations and voting were all open to the public, so the awards stay politics free, and just about celebrating the top tattooers in the business.

Here are the results, nicked from the facebook page:

- Best Tattoo Journalist – Sally Feldt – Total Tattoo Magazine

- Best Tattoo Photographer – Al Overdrive

- Best UK Tattoo Publication – Tattoo Revolution Magazine

- Best International Tattoo Publication – Tattoo Life

- Best Online Tattoo Resource – Tattoo.tv

- Peoples Choice Best UK Male Artist  – Matt Oddboy Barrett-Jones

- Peoples Choice Best UK Female Artist – Amanda Ruby

- Peoples Choice Best International Male Artist – Jeff Gogue

- Peoples Choice Best International Female Artist – Kelly Dotty

- Hall of Fame – Lal Hardy

And of course no tattoo convention would be complete without the competitions, so here are the winners:

On top of all that, they also had the very first Miss Tattoo UK crowned, with the lovely Samantha Sorci donning the debut sash.
Although we couldn’t be there in person, we were definitely there in spirit, and with the help of facebook we can show you some of the fabulous work produced at the show. Liverpool is definitely going on the “MUST ATTEND” list for next year.

UK Tattoo Industry Awards – Vote NOW!

We posted a little while back about the UK Tattoo Industry Awards, which is being organised by the fine chaps running the Liverpool Tattoo Convention. The nominations are now in and the voting is under way!

There are some amazing artists in the mix. I had the pleasure (and pain, haha!) of being tattooed by Kerry-Anne Richardson a couple of weeks ago (I’ll post pictures soon), and the lady has some serious skills. All of the artists in the top 5 are among the best tattooers in all of the land, but no prizes for guessing who I think you should vote for! You have to register to vote, then you can rate the artists out of 5, which is a great idea for those of you that can’t make up your minds!

So click here and get voting!

“Star Boards” charity project

“Star Boards” charity project is probably one of the coolest ideas ever conceived.

Some of the best tattooers in the UK painting/customising skate board decks with Star Wars themed designs, which will then be auctioned off for charity at the Liverpool Tattoo Convention. Great idea right? I thought so. So did 70 artists from around the country, and they have been pulling out all the stops to make this something really special.

Check out some of these pics for examples of the pure awesomeness that these fine chaps have been creating. Look on the website and facebook page for further details, and if you want to have a chance to own one of these boards, check out the Liverpool Convention site.

UK Tattoo Industry Awards

The Liverpool Tattoo Convention is again running the UK Tattoo Industry awards this year, which gives tattoo artists and enthusiasts the chance to vote for their favourite tattooers and journalists. The following is from their website;

Our Ethos:

We consider that Tattoo Artists and Tattoo Enthusiasts should decide which artists deserve an award in recognition of achievement in their field.

We consider that Journalists, Photographers, Publications and online resources do an invaluable job in promoting the industry, and the Tattoo scene in general, so it is only right that achievement in these areas should be acknowledged.

Also that Equipment suppliers that supply to only registered artists should be also be recognised for their contribution in preventing equipment getting into the wrong hands.

We continue to do what we can to raise standards in the tattoo industry, give credit where it is due and let the tattoo artists and tattoo enthusiasts voices be heard.
