Anderson Silva returned to form at the weekend by smashing Chael Sonnen after being wrassled for the first round. It might not have lived up to the hype but we got to see both guys fight at their best, the ending of a highly entertaining feud (at least for now) and Silva addressing his only recent blemish to retain his standing as best P4P fighter in the world.

Best of Chael Sonnen: UFC 148 Press conference
I thought I would be sick of the guy by now, but I am really finding Chael hilarious at the moment. But despite all the laughs, this guy is serious about fighting. He has Anderson Silva’s full attention and both guys look to fight with a mad intensity. The fight is tomorrow. If this fight only even meets half of the hype that has been surrounding it, then we are all in for a treat.
Chael Sonnen: American Gangster
When I heard Chael Sonnen refer to himself as a “gangster”, I assumed he was being somewhat ironic. Turns out the guy is for real, check it out.

This time it’s personal
The UFC released a new promo video for UFC148 which features a compilation of the smack talk from Chael Sonnen over the years. All of this has led to Anderson Silva stepping away from his usual cool and calm personality to threaten the hell out of Sonnen like a bawss in a media phone conference last week. The rematch is only 9 days away so watch this video and allow yourself to start getting VERY excited!

UFC on Fox videos
Fox Sports youtube channel has uploaded some videos of last weekends UFC on Fox fight card. If you missed it be sure to watch these, and bask in the pugilistic awesomeness.
Could we finally get a British UFC champion?
Michael Bisping has been given the opportunity of a lifetime. Due to Mark Munoz getting injured, Bisping has been bumped up the card to fight the infamous Chael Sonnen at UFC on Fox 2 next weekend. What’s more, the winner gets a crack at Anderson Silva’s belt.
Whether or not you believe Sonnen’s claims of being the greatest middleweight of all time, it’s hard not to see him as the obvious favourite. He was only a few minutes away from taking Anderson’s belt home with him, and his destruction of Brian Stann was, quite frankly, beautiful. That being said, Bisping has got excellent striking, and his takedown defence and scrambling ability are as good as anyones. I don’t think I would personally put money on Mike pulling out a win, but it will probably be a pretty closely contested bout.
This is the closest a Brit has come to UFC gold since GSP dry-humped a game, but ultimately outmatched Dan Hardy back at UFC 111. Of all the middleweights in the UFC, it’s hard to think of anyone other than Sonnen and Bisping that could give Silva any trouble. I actually think Mike matches up pretty well against “The Spider”, and it would mean the UK might finally get a good headlining bout on a UFC event for a change.
Sonnen speaks to Brazil
Below is a video clip of a promo Chael Sonnen did for Brazilian TV. I love how his fight with Anderson Silva was nearly a year and a half ago, and he still talks about a rematch every time anyone points a camera at him. Still, if he gets past Mark Munoz (on UFC on Fox 2, 28th of January), nobody can deny he deserves another shot.
Plus that suplex was pretty sweet.
“Anderson Silva, you absolutely suck!”
After this bold post-fight interview, the ever entertaining middleweight Chael Sonnen went on to offer Silva a shot at the “true belt” at the press conference.
Nobody does self promotion like Sonnen, and after his dominant display against Brian Stann last weekend, I think every fan on earth wants to see how he would fare in a second bout with Silva. Their first fight was the closest anyone has come in years to beating Anderson, who most consider to be the pound for pound best fighter in MMA.
I personally don’t know what I’m looking forward to more, the fight, or the Chael Sonnen hype train.
