UFC 146: FINISH HIM!

Cain Velasquez

Due to the amount of finishes at UFC 146 Junior Dos Santos vs Frank Mir, TEN fights made it onto the PPV! The heavyweights proved they can entertain with highly technical fights mixed with raw power to create episodes of  violence at its most horrifying degree. Bring on Cain Velasquez vs Junior Dos Santos two while we wait for Ubereem to return.

Our fellow brits Dan Hardy and Paul Sass picked up wins this weekend too. Hardy with a great first round KO and Sassangle continued his submission rampage through the lighweight division. The emotion Dan showed immediately after his win and humble attitude in the post fight interview goes to show how much his recent losses have changed him as a person and fighter. I hope that this is the start of a winning streak for him.

Unfortunately Mayhem lost his fight and will likely get cut from the UFC. Making this probably the first and last time you see a noogie in the octagon.

What a goon

Last weekend I attended the Northampton Tattoo Convention (I know that was over a week ago, but I’ve been mega busy), and finally got to meet one of the coolest realism artists in the country. We have featured a few tattoos in the past from Paul Johnson (including one on our friend Milky), and it’s a great to have an excuse to post another one of his tattoos.

This tattoo won “best small colour” on the Sunday at the convention. Although it’s a smaller convention, there were a pretty decent line up of artists in attendance. So a big well done to Paul, it’s definitely well deserved.

The Reem – New episode: The good, the bad and the ugly

Alistair Overeem

Alistair Overeem’s documentary series ‘The Reem’ has finally provided us with a new episode. I have been wondering how his team would represent him in this installment considering his place against Junior Dos Santos was removed following an elevated ratio of testosterone to epitestosterone.

This episode delves into his family life (his grandma and daughter are so cute), his training with the Blackzilians, some media work for UFC 146 and covers the events surrounding his failed drug test. After being fed speculations and incomplete facts about his situation, it is eye opening to see what really happened at his hearing with the NSAC and how unique a position he was in.

Metal day at Octopus Tattoo

20120523-124148.jpg
Octopus Tattoo in Derby are hosting a Metal Day on Saturday the 9th of June, and quite frankly, it looks badass.

There will be a choice of designs available on a first come first served basis, and each tattoo will set you back a mere £66.60. BARGAIN!

They have posted up the flash sheet of Benjamin Fluxx’s designs, and I can’t wait to see what Gerry has in mind as well. If you’re interested in getting tattooed then make sure you’re there nice and early to avoid disappointment, it’s sure to be a very busy day. It starts at 10am, the address is on their Facebook page.
